                               RESOLUTION NO. 19180
                   
                   
                   A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE PLACING OF LOGO 
                   SIGNS ON HIGHWAY AND STREET RIGHTS-OF-WAY 
                   WITHIN THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA AND TO 
                   FORMALLY REQUEST THAT THE TENNESSEE AND 
                   GEORGIA DEPARTMENTS OF TRANSPORTATION 
                   APPROVE THE PLACING OF SUCH LOGO SIGNS ON 
                   THEIR STATE HIGHWAY RIGHTS-OF-WAY.
                   
                   
                                                     
                   
                   
       	    	 WHEREAS, Chattanooga Venture's Driving Tour Study 
       Committee has, over the last twenty months, developed a logo, 
       route, brochure, and marketing plan for a self-directed driving 
       tour of the Chattanooga area; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, the establishment of such a tour and the 
       installation of appropriate signage on highway rights-of-way will 
       be of significant assistance to our visitors, and will elongate 
       their stay in our area; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, a Venture grant will cover all costs, including 
       the purchase and installation of the signs and an initial supply 
       of brochures; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, the location of specific signs would be 
       coordinated with the City's Traffic Engineering Department; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, the Driving Tour Committee has asked the City 
       Council to formally request that the Tennessee and Georgia 
       Departments of Transportation approve the placing of such logo 
       signs on their state highway rights-of-way.
       	    	 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF 
       THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That there be and is hereby 
       approved the placing of logo signs on highway and street 
       rights-of-way within the City of Chattanooga; and 
       	    	 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Council does 
       hereby request that the Tennessee and Georgia Departments of 
       Transportation approve the placing of such logo signs on their 
       state highway rights-of-way.
